People visit Little India for a glimpse of the cultural heritage (specially south Indian Tamil), colonial building structures and for a taste of Indian cuisine. The place is filled with shops selling aromatic spices, jewelry, ayurvedic  message oils, curry and fabrics of Indian flavor. Several temples, mosques and Gurdwara (Sikh worship place) exists in Little India, the famous being Sri Veeramakaliamman Temple, Sri Vadapathira Kaliamman Temple, Central Sikh Gurdwara and Abdul Gafoor Mosque. Mustafa Centre a budget shoppers paradise is also located at Little India. Deepavali the festival of light is the most prominent festival celebrated in the area, with colorful street lightings and decorations.
